Birk TeQ is a new member of Bæredygtig Herning – a company that has put the green transition into practice in everyday operations. As an electrical installation company with electricians constantly on the move, they chose to look inward and focus on their own transportation habits.
“Not all of our employees drive electric cars yet, as the vehicles still have range limitations. However, our growth over the past year means we can’t get enough cars fast enough to meet demand, so we haven’t replaced our old fleet yet. Altogether, we have purchased 15 electric cars so far, and more are on the way,” says Michael Engkær Engsig Madsen, Sales and Development Director at Birk TeQ.
Charging Stations as an Employee Benefit
Today, more employees drive electric company cars, and charging stations aren’t just installed at the office. Staff also have the option to have chargers installed at home – a solution that saves time and increases flexibility during a busy workday. It allows employees to drive directly to client meetings without first stopping at the office to charge.
The solution provides both sustainability and economic benefits. Where diesel used to be a significant expense, electric cars and charging solutions now help reduce costs. At the same time, home chargers are seen as an employee benefit – an investment in staff wellbeing and job satisfaction.
“This has had a positive effect on our diesel consumption, as some of the electricians who make short but frequent trips now drive electric cars instead of diesel,” explains Michael Engkær Engsig Madsen.
Sharing the Successes
Transitioning comes in many forms – and Birk TeQ shows what it can look like when expertise, thoughtfulness, and action come together. And when you take the elephant one bite at a time.
“It’s always good to share success stories,” says Michael, adding, “and if we can inspire others on ways to meet the green transition while supporting employees, that’s a win-win.”
